Advancing Green Manufacturing for Ecological Civilization: Research on Green Manufacturing Strategies

The Research Group for Research on Green Manufacturing Strategy

Strategic Study of CAE 2017, Volume 19, Issue 3,   Pages 53-60 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2017.03.008

Abstract:

China is going through an important historical stage as it transforms from a large country with manufacturing industry into a global manufacturing power. With the guidance of green development concept, China must explore strategic issues on advancing the coordinated development between manufacturing industry and ecological environment, for the harmonious coexistence between industrial civilization and ecological civilization. Green manufacturing is a critical focus in the construction of manufacturing power and in the transformation of production modes. Moreover, green manufacturing is an important part of green development. Green manufacturing contains low carbon development and circulation development. This paper elaborates on the scientific implications, targets and evaluation system of green manufacturing, on the basis of clarifying the relationship between green manufacturing and ecological civilization. The authors then put forward the strategic direction and major projects for green manufacturing, based on the achievements and difficulties of the current development. Policy implications are provided from the aspects of top-level design, team construction, innovation system, service platform, system and mechanism, and international cooperation.

Strategic Study on Green Development Engineering for Industry

The Research Group for Strategic Study on Green Development Engineering for Industry

Strategic Study of CAE 2015, Volume 17, Issue 7,   Pages 32-36

Abstract:

The green development problems of steel industry, nonferrous metal industry, petrochemical industry, chemical industry, construction material industry, papermaking industry, and related industrial general machines and some high energy consumption equipment have been researched. The connotations and relationships among green development, recycling development and low-carbon development are discussed. And the present status, challenges and important influences on the green development of the six major process industries and industrial equipment were analyzed. Meanwhile, the break points (peak values) of total energy consumption and total pollutant emissions of the six major process manufacturing industries are analyzed. Then, strategy solutions and targets of green development engineering for industry are put forward. However, it should be emphasized that process manufacturing industry should be integrated into the circular economy based on function expansion. Finally, some leading engineering projects and corresponding demonstration projects and a series of key technologies are put forward.

Barriers and countermeasures in developing traditional Chinese medicine in Europe

Yunfang Liu,Zhiping Yang,Jing Cheng,Daiming Fan

Frontiers of Medicine 2016, Volume 10, Issue 3,   Pages 360-376 doi: 10.1007/s11684-016-0455-x

Abstract:

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is one of the unique cultural treasures of Chinese; it represents a significant feature and prominent advantage of the healthcare cause in China. Data in this paper were from World Health Organization, Chinese Bureau of Statistics, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and PubMed. In recent years, TCM has established a solid foundation in Europe, which made great strides in legislation, education, research, and international exchange, and has enjoyed a vast development space in the continent. Now, TCM is embracing unprecedented development opportunities in Europe. At the same time, the stiff international competition poses a grave threat to China’s TCM industry. With multiple cultural, legal, and institutional challenges, as well as talent shortages in the way, TCM is now facing many difficulties in Europe. To fully prepare and enact active and vigorous steps to seize opportunities, we should have a clear picture about the serious challenges hampering TCM development in Europe. The TCM development at overseas markets has shifted from a spontaneous trade activity into a national strategy spearheaded by the government and participated in by multiple stakeholders. We should make a systematic, comprehensive, and sustainable push in fields such as TCM therapy, healthcare, education, research, culture, and industry development. The ultimate goal is to bring TCMs to the global market and allow them to play a role in safeguarding public health along with modern medicines.

Constraints for Sustainable Land Use in China and Countermeasures

Li Boheng

Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 9,   Pages 7-12

Abstract:

Large population, limited land resources and environmental pollution are the main constraints for sustainable land use in China. It is an ambitious goal of the new millennium to monitor land use dynamically with remote sensing technology, enhance management of primary agricultural land, build gardening and ecologically sound agricultural conditions, and to achieve dynamic balance of total agricultural land areas in China.
